The sample fee should be reviewed from the buyer’s actual artwork and component brief. Existing fabric, lining and zipper routes usually need less setup than custom dyeing, custom hardware or a molded puller. The fee can also change with new pattern work, pockets, padding, embroidery, woven labels and the number of revisions required.<\/p><\/section>\n

Buyer insight: the design file decides the development route<\/h2>\n

When a buyer asks for a sample price before sharing artwork, the answer can only be provisional. The same-looking pouch may use an existing canvas and stock zipper, or it may require a custom-dyed fabric, special lining, plated zipper, molded puller and new woven label. Those are different development routes.<\/p>\n

A useful sample-cost review therefore starts with the design file, target color, component references and intended order quantity. This protects the buyer from comparing a basic stock-component sample with a fully custom retail specification.<\/p>\n

Four questions that determine the sample fee<\/h2>\n

Can existing materials be used?<\/h3>\n

Confirm whether the outer fabric, lining and padding already exist in a suitable color and performance route.<\/p><\/section>\n

Is the zipper standard or custom?<\/h3>\n

State zipper type, tape color, teeth finish, slider, puller, opening length and whether any component needs branding.<\/p><\/section>\n

Does the logo need new setup?<\/h3>\n

Embroidery, screen print, foil and woven labels need different artwork and setup; small logo changes can require a new test.<\/p><\/section>\n

Is the structure already proven?<\/h3>\n

A new pattern, gusset, divider, frame or pocket map takes more development than a size adjustment to an existing route.<\/p><\/section><\/div>\n

Use Pantone Connect<\/a>1<\/a><\/sup><\/span> to communicate color targets, but sign off color on the actual fabric and zipper tape.
