Buyer Summary

Use this sample checklist when a brand has chosen a structured canvas cosmetic bag or small pouch route and needs to approve lining, pockets, handles, zipper, embroidery and retail finish before bulk production. Sewn projects should normally be planned from MOQ 500, with sample review before final bulk pricing is locked.

A structured pouch sample is not only a size sample

For a premium small pouch, the sample must show whether the body holds shape after filling, whether the zipper runs smoothly around corners, whether the lining feels clean, and whether pockets actually fit the intended products. A flat reference image is not enough.

Color should be checked across fabric, lining, zipper tape, embroidery and labels. Pantone color workflow1 helps communicate color references, but textile and paper components can still read differently in a real sample.

Sample approval checkpoints

Checkpoint What to inspect Fail signal
Shape and structure Filled and empty body shape, seam balance, gusset depth and whether the pouch can stand neatly. The product collapses, twists or looks lower-grade after filling.
Lining and pockets Lining color, pocket size, zipper pocket route, mesh or elastic storage, and product access. The inside looks unfinished or cannot hold the intended products.
Zipper route Opening length, corner smoothness, puller size and repeated open-close feel. YKK zipper product information2 can support zipper route discussion. The zipper catches, feels rough or makes the opening too small.
Embroidery and label Logo size, center alignment, backing, thread color and woven side label position. Logo is distorted, off-center or too close to seams.
Inspection language Sampling terms should be clear before bulk. ISO 2859-1 sampling procedures3 can support inspection-language discussions. Bulk review becomes subjective because pass/fail points were not written.

Pocket layout should follow product use

Internal pockets should not be added only because they look useful. A sports wellness pouch may need a zip pocket for small personal items plus elastic or mesh for sachets and balms. A beauty pouch may need brush, compact or tube storage. The sample should be packed with realistic items before approval.

Internal zip pocket

Best for keys, cards, mouthguard case or small items that should not move around during retail use.

Mesh pocket

Best when the buyer wants visibility and lighter storage for sachets, balm tubes or accessory packs.

Elastic pocket

Best when a bottle, tube or tool needs light hold but still must be easy to remove.

Zipper route and opening size should be checked on the real sample.
In-house zipper fatigue testing for sewn pouch quality review
Repeated open-close checks help avoid zipper return issues.

Approve the sample with packing in mind

A sample can look right on a table and still fail retail packing. Tissue paper, swing tags, poly bags and carton count can change how the pouch arrives and how the buyer presents it. If the pouch will sell through a website or retail store, packing details should be confirmed before bulk approval.

Best fit

Brands with artwork, size target, use case, quantity tiers, delivery country and willingness to test one sample before bulk.

Less suitable

Requests with no product use, no quantity, no artwork, no sample review time, or buyers asking for final price from one image.

FAQ

What should be checked first on a structured canvas bag sample?

Check body shape, product fit, lining feel, zipper movement, pocket access, handle balance and logo placement before discussing bulk approval.

Can pocket layout change the quote?

Yes. Internal zip pockets, mesh pockets, elastic pockets and lining stiffness change material, labor route and sample timing.

Should the sample be filled during review?

Yes. The buyer should test the pouch with realistic contents so shape, pockets and opening size can be reviewed properly.

What MOQ applies?

Custom sewn cosmetic bags and pouches should normally be planned from MOQ 500.

Who is less suitable?

Buyers with no artwork, no product use, no quantity, no sample approval time or final-price-only requests are less suitable.
