Use this sample checklist when a brand has chosen a structured canvas cosmetic bag or small pouch route and needs to approve lining, pockets, handles, zipper, embroidery and retail finish before bulk production. A structured pouch sample is not only a size sample
For a premium small pouch, the sample must show whether the body holds shape after filling, whether the zipper runs smoothly around corners, whether the lining feels clean, and whether pockets actually fit the intended products. A flat reference image is not enough.
Color should be checked across fabric, lining, zipper tape, embroidery and labels. Pantone color workflow1 helps communicate color references, but textile and paper components can still read differently in a real sample.
Sample approval checkpoints
Pocket layout should follow product use
Internal pockets should not be added only because they look useful. A sports wellness pouch may need a zip pocket for small personal items plus elastic or mesh for sachets and balms. A beauty pouch may need brush, compact or tube storage. The sample should be packed with realistic items before approval.
Internal zip pocket
Best for keys, cards, mouthguard case or small items that should not move around during retail use.
Mesh pocket
Best when the buyer wants visibility and lighter storage for sachets, balm tubes or accessory packs.
Elastic pocket
Best when a bottle, tube or tool needs light hold but still must be easy to remove.
Approve the sample with packing in mind
A sample can look right on a table and still fail retail packing. Tissue paper, swing tags, poly bags and carton count can change how the pouch arrives and how the buyer presents it. If the pouch will sell through a website or retail store, packing details should be confirmed before bulk approval.
Best fit
Brands with artwork, size target, use case, quantity tiers, delivery country and willingness to test one sample before bulk.
