Start with the product, not the shape
The fastest custom shaped box RFQs start with the item inside the box. A heart, hexagon, round or brand-logo shape can look strong, but the supplier still needs product dimensions, weight, fragile points, opening direction and display use. If the project uses paper materials, the buyer should also say whether document support is needed, such as FSC chain-of-custody documentation1.
For jewelry, confirm whether the box must hold a ring, earring card, pendant tray, pouch or certificate card. For beauty, confirm whether the shaped box is holding a jar, compact, serum bottle or GWP item. This prevents the sample from looking good outside but failing inside.
RFQ details that change shaped box cost
Best fit and less suitable buyers
Best fit
Beauty or jewelry brands with MOQ 1000+, product dimensions, artwork direction, launch window, target price and willingness to approve a physical sample before bulk production.
Less suitable
Single-piece gifts, no-brand requests, below-MOQ paper projects, or buyers who only send an inspiration image and ask for an exact price without size, material or finish direction.
Sample risk
A shaped box can look correct in a render but fail when the insert, lid gap, curved edge, foil position or retail packing is checked.
What to approve before bulk production
Before bulk production, approve structure, opening feel, insert fit, color, finish, barcode area, edge quality and carton packing. Quality language can reference ISO 2859-1 sampling5 where the buyer needs a sampling framework, but the acceptance points should be visible in the sample approval notes.
A useful first email should include the product size, shape target, reference images, quantity range, delivery market and launch window. If several shapes are under consideration, ask for a route comparison instead of forcing one design too early.
よくあるご質問
What MOQ should buyers expect for custom shaped rigid boxes?
Custom shaped paper or rigid box projects should normally be planned from MOQ 1000 because structure, setup and sample work are heavier than standard packaging.
Can Ecoicolor make heart-shaped or hexagonal boxes?
Ecoicolor can review heart, hexagon, round, logo-shaped and other custom rigid box routes when the buyer provides product dimensions, quantity and sample requirements.
What files are needed before sampling?
Send product dimensions, artwork or logo files, finish expectations, quantity range, delivery country and any insert or retail label needs.
When is a custom shaped box not a good fit?
It is not a good fit for one-piece personal gifts, below-MOQ projects or buyers who need the lowest unit price without sample review.
Should a shaped box use an insert?
If the product can move, scratch or rotate inside the box, an insert should be reviewed before bulk approval.
